Mrs. W. Ruth Whitney is one of the most distinguished women in the New York Metropolitan area as well as in the United States.  She is the wife and Leading Lady of the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York, Pastored by the Reverend Dr. Curtis L. Whitney.

Mrs. Whitney is past President of the Eastern Baptist Association and Baptist Minister's Wives and Widows of  New York and Vicinity.  She received a Bachelor of Science Degree from the New York State University, Westury, New York and earned a Masters of Social Work from Adelphi University, Garden City, New York.

Mrs. Whitney has often been called upon to establish programs of Christian Education and Christian Leadership throughout the Nation and has used her broad knowledge and understanding ability to cultivate and nurture Minister's Wives groups and the local churches into the notable examples of service that Jesus would want them to become.

Mrs. Whitney is a wife, mother, grandmother and an active community servant in the Borough of Brooklyn.  Her leadership is often at the forefront of most movements for positive change and development throughout the City of New York.

Evangelist Estelle Smart, Associate Minister

Evangelist Estelle Smart is a native of New Jersey.  She has been a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church for approximately 35 years where she served as musician for the young people, young adult choir and the combined choirs which is called the voices.  She now serves as Minister of Music at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church.  Evangelist Smart is the chairperson of the Evangelism Ministry where every year the church holds their annual Tent Revial.

Minister Estelle Smart is currently a member of the Gospel Music Workshop of America founded by the late Reverend James Cleveland where she works with the National Youth Department.  Evangelist Smart sang  with the "New Jersey Mass Choir under the direction of Reverend Donnie Harper.  Evangelist Smart was the leader for the New Jersey Young Adult Choir.

Minister Estelle Smart attended Columbia University for business; Eastern Bible Institues, Irvington New Jersey where she earned a Masters Degree in Theology and is currently enrolled at Preuma Life School of Ministry, Rahway, New Jersey.

Minister Estelle Smart was licensed to preach the gospel in January 1990 by Reverend Sally Kindred.

Reverend Carl A. Leach

     Reverend Carl A. Leach Jr. a native of Brooklyn, New York was born into the Ministry of the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. Curtis L. Whitney.

 

     Rev. Leach attended the New York City school system. He is currently a student at the College of New Rochelle where he is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology. His educational goal is to complete his current studies at the college of New Rochelle and complete graduate studies and obtain his Masters Degree in Theological Studies.

 

     Rev. Leach is a faithful member of the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, Brooklyn, New York. He is the Minister of Worship and Dr. Whitney’s chief adjutant. Min. Leach was licensed to the Gospel Ministry by Dr. Whitney and the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church on December 10, 2006.

 

    Under the dynamic tutelage and leadership of Dr. Whitney, Min. Leach has worked in many areas of Ministry in the church including the Youth Ministry by implementing Revivals, workshops, Joy night, and other spiritual activities to encourage the young people to read God’s Holy word and stand on the promises of God. His Love for God and his people is so strong that he takes every opportunity to evangelize, preach, and teach God’s Holy word. 

 

     Rev. Leach is a Young man with an old soul. His favorite scripture is Psalm 34:1

“I will bless the Lord at all times and his praise shall continually be in my mouth”. He is the father of one “Aaron Kennedy” and a mentor to many.

Patrina Owens

                                                                     Dance Ministry

Patrina Owens was born in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, New York.  She is a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church and serves as the Dance Leader for the Daughter's of Ruth Dance Ministry. Sister Ownes began her formal dance training at New York City College under the direction of the late Martha Graham.  Sister Owens is now studying at The Raise Him Up Praise Dance School (on Our toes for HIM) under the leadership of Wendy Heagy.  

Sister Owens received her calling to the ministry of sacred dance in 1998 while studying with Jubliation Dance Company at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church.  Sister Owens now directs, choreographs, and ministers in Christian benefits, productions and Church services at Mt. Sinai and she also coordinates and teach Praise dance at various schools and churches.

Patrina is currently a Human Resource Associate at the Community Service Society of New York where their mission is to help New Yorkers defeat the problems of poverty and strengthen community life for all.

In pursuit of her calling, her goal is to continue to spread the word of God to others through dance.
